Sinus Care Session from A Caring Touch: Massage Therapy in State College, PA

What is it?

A combination of a variety of massage techniques designed to calm painful or clogged face and sinus pressure. The 30 minute session can be done on its own, or in combination with a regular massage therapy session. This makes it a flexible option for clients who want focused relief or who wish to enhance a full-body massage with targeted facial and sinus work.

It combines massage techniques such as warm and cold stone face massage, acupressure, lymphatic drainage, facial cupping, and aromatherapy. These techniques all work together to encourage lymphatic drainage that helps relieve the pain and pressure that builds up in the face, around the eyes, and throughout the head. The treatment is performed using gentle, intentional movements that are designed to be soothing rather than aggressive. Special attention is given to common congestion areas such as the cheeks, jaw, brow, and neck to support overall drainage and comfort.

Why?

Sinus pain can be miserable and the combination of the techniques used each contribute to helping ease these issues. The contrast of warm and cold massage each contribute to calming inflammation and encouraging circulation, the acupressure and lymphatic drainage encourage trapped fluid and inflammation to move, and each of the techniques adds a layer of relaxation which also helps relieve pain and pressure by itself.

When the body is more relaxed, it is better able to release tension and reduce the sensation of pain. Improving circulation and lymphatic flow in the face and neck can also help decrease the heavy, full feeling often associated with sinus congestion.

Is it for me?

If you suffer from sinus pain and pressure, either during certain times of year or just occasionally, this can help “get things moving.” The session can be very relaxing in addition to being effective in hitting several different causes of sinus congestion and pressure and relieving the pain and discomfort that accompanies it.

This treatment is especially helpful for those who experience seasonal allergies, frequent sinus tension, or headaches related to facial pressure. It is a gentle yet effective option for clients seeking relief without medication, while also enjoying a calming and restorative experience.
