What is it?
Heated stones are used to do massage strokes on a specific part of the body. It is similar to a Hot Stone Massage but instead of the entire body, it is focused just on one specific area of the body such as the shoulders, back, arms, or legs.
This targeted approach allows the therapist to concentrate on areas that commonly hold tension or discomfort. The heated stones are held in the therapist's hands while they execute familiar massage strokes such as gliding and kneading to encourage relaxation, soften tight tissue, and increase circulation.
Why?
The heat can help increase the benefits of the massage by increasing relaxation of tightness and improving circulation. The heated stones allow for a deeper massage without deeper pressure or pushing.
Since our muscles and skin are porous, the heat from the stones penetrates deeper into the muscles and gives a more effective result. Heat is also beneficial for increasing circulation, which can help with areas prone to inflammation due to conditions like arthritis or chronic tension.

Is it for me?
This is a great addition to a massage if you have a particular spot or area that is super tight or needs extra attention. A Hot Stone Spot Treatment allows you to get the benefits of a Hot Stone Massage without having to commit to a full Hot Stone Massage for your whole body.
Rather, it can be added to a regular massage as a small additional focus on a particularly troubled area, or simply as a treat to yourself for a touch of luxury paired with the therapeutic benefits of heat and massage.
