Infant Massage

Massage has benefits for everyone, and especially infants. Touch is one of the first sensations babies are aware of, so it is valuable for helping them physically, mentally, and in many more ways. There is scientific research proving that massage has a great impact on babies and children. Massage is more than just a way to relax. It can greatly influence the way babies' brains and bodies develop. Studies show the relationship between touch and intelligence, so the more skin-to-skin touch a baby receives in its first year of life can impact the way their brain works and develops for the rest of their life.

Infant Massage treatments are available for your baby. Treatments can help with a range of issues such as:

  • Tummy or digestion problems

  • Muscular issues

  • Birth Trauma

  • Colic

  • Sleeplessness

  • Colds

  • Feeding Problems

  • and many other concerns.

Parents will remain with the therapist during the massage. Massages are performed in conjunction with baby's needs and tolerance - no massage techniques will be forced upon the baby. Appointments are scheduled in 15-minute increments, but be aware that baby may not cooperate for the whole 15 minutes, so time and pricing will be adjusted as needed. Please feel free to contact Karen for more details and information, or to ask any questions.

Learning to massage your baby yourself is the best method of utilizing the benefits of infant massage since the people who spend the most time with your baby will most easily know baby's cues and needs. These Infant Massage Classes are designed for parents and their babies, but it is also perfectly suited for grandparents, caretakers, day care workers, social workers, nurses or health care professionals - anyone who regularly interacts with infants or young children and has the opportunity to use the Massage Therapy benefits with the children.
During the class, you will learn not only the massage strokes themselves, but the "why" behind which strokes are best suited for what, as well as a variety of conditions that can  be helped with massage.

To Be Scheduled

This class is designed for a baby and adult - mom, dad, grandparent, etc. Class will last approximately one hour and will cover massage strokes for the full body as well as conditions massage can be used to treat.

For the class, to make both you and your baby comfortable, please plan to bring a change of diaper, and feel free to feed baby if necessary during class. You may also want to bring a blanket of "Boppy"-type pillow to lay baby on. We will be massaging the babies, so please dress baby in something that is easy to take on and off.
