Therapist's Biography

Karen Stoner, LMT is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Who holds Advanced Certifications in  Prenatal Massage, Postnatal Massage, Fertility Massage, and Infant Massage, plus Infant Massage Instruction.

She has been providing Massage Therapy Services to the State College Area since 2003. During that time, her therapy has helped people relieve the pain of injuries, stress, car accidents, and body discomfort, as well as maintain good bodily and mental health.
 
Karen is one of the few Massage Therapists in Centre County who specializes in Prenatal, Fertility, and Infant Massage, holding over 100 hours of training specifically in these areas, plus she offers Infant Massage Instruction for parents who want to learn how to use massage therapy’s benefits for their own children.

A classically trained ballerina who studied with the Pennsylvania Ballet and Hartford Ballet as well as Modern Dance companies such as Pilobolus and the Martha Graham Company, she has performed in some of the top artistic venues on the East Coast. After graduating cum laude from the Hartt School of the University of Hartford with a degree in Children's Dance Pedagogy, she enjoyed a short professional career in State College before an injury forced her into an early retirement.

While no longer spending 12-15 hours a day dancing, Karen discovered that her unique injury was greatly helped through Massage Therapy and decided, "If it can help me, it must be good!" which then led to her new career.

Karen holds over 1300 hours of training and is trained in multiple massage modalities that she practices including:

• Swedish

• Deep Tissue

• Trigger Point

• Sports Massage

• Hot Stone Massage

• and several others

• Additionally, she also holds an advanced training in Pregnancy and Infant Massage.

The clients she has worked on range from newborn babies to professional football players. Her dance training gives her a unique insight as to how and why the body works the way it does, and her teaching background helps her strive to educate her clients as to how massage therapy can help them and how to continue to help themselves once the massage therapy session is over.

In addition to owning A Caring Touch: Massage Therapy, Karen also teaches Prenatal and Infant Massage at the Valley School of Healing Arts in Port Traverton, PA and keeps using her dance training as an instructor at the Central PA Dance Workshop through which she choreographs for the Fraser Street Dancers and Children's Ensemble.
