"Many major airports around the world contain spas that offer massage for travelers"
Travel can be fun and exciting, but the actual act of traveling can be a royal pain - in many ways. Start with the stress of getting to the airport hours before your flight, dealing with TSA, finding your gate, layovers, delayed flights, delayed takeoffs, catching connections in different terminals - it is a lot of stress. That's not taking into account the physical stresses of traveling: carrying and dragging your luggage, uncomfortably sitting in a cramped, too small seat for hours at a time, then running from place to place with hundreds of other people takes a toll on the body to the point where sometimes it is difficult to be comfortable when you get to your destination.
Fortunately, many airports are now providing help for these travel stresses. Some have massage chairs for you to sit in and get a quick massage. Other airports will have actual massage therapists with massage chairs which allow for massages focused on the back, neck, and shoulders. The chairs allow you to get in and out of the massage easily and there is no need to disrobe - very handy when you only have a few minutes until you need to be at your gate, and still need to listen for announcements. Still other larger airports have full-blown spas that provide not only massage, but manicures, pedicures, facials, and even haircuts.
It is refreshing to see massage included in spaces where people could use the stress reduction and help for their bodies. Some may argue that they are taking advantage of a captive audience, but then again, many people say one of the reasons they don't practice self-care more often is because they don't have time. If you have to be stuck in an airport with hours to kill, lack of time is no longer an excuse!
